Former Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani, who fled the country as the Taliban entered Kabul, on Wednesday said his decision to leave was the only way to keep guns silent. In a statement on Twitter, Ghani expressed regret for “leaving Kabul abruptly” and said that he left at the urging of the palace security in order to avoid the risk of bloody street fighting.
