‘India’s population may peak to 1.6bn in 2048’

Scientists have predicted that India’s population may peak to about 1.6 billion in 2048, & decline by 32% to around 1.09 billion in 2100, when it is also expected to be the world’s most populous country. The analysis, published in the journal The Lancet, used data from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2017, & applied novel models to project future for 183 countries.
