As per the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the National Centre for Disease Informatics and Research (NCDIR) latest report, India’s cancer cases could increase by 12% in the next five years. Health experts said, tobacco-related cancers are estimated to contribute 27% of the total cancer burden in India, yet tobacco is readily available, so are cigarettes.
