The government on Tuesday reiterated that it had not taken any decision yet to prepare a National Register of Indian Citizens (NRIC) at the national level. Replicating the NRC exercise, already done for Assam, for other parts of the country in a phased manner was promised by BJP in its election manifesto for 2019 Lok Sabha poll.
