Gujarat, one of the most progressive states with impressive industrial output continues to have a long way to cover when it comes to human development indicators. The National Family Health Survey 5 (2019-20) recorded that nearly 11% of children (under 5 years) suffered from wasting (low weight for height) against just 7% in 2005-06 or 14 years ago. Children with severe wasting has also risen by 4 percentage points.
